Press Release: Horizons Regional Council
Uzabus have been successful in their bid to provide Horizons regional Council’s Feilding to Palmerston North bus service, complete with a series of service improvements from January 2016.
Chair of Horizons’ Passenger Transport Committee Rachel Keedwell says that when the new contract commences on 4 January next year, there will be a number of noticeable improvements for passengers.
“Following a review of the service in 2014-2015, the Committee reflected on feedback and made a number of significant improvements to the service that passengers can look forward to, including the installation of bike racks on all Feilding buses.
Bike racks have proven extremely popular in other areas of New Zealand and will provide cyclists with a link between Palmerston North, Feilding and Bunnythorpe,” Cr Keedwell says.
“There will also be additional services on weekdays and weekends that will allow passengers to get to work, school and other important areas like the Duke Street health centre.”
All passengers can rest assured that they will continue to receive the quality service they’ve grown accustomed to, but also benefit from the added improvements.
We are working with the operators to ensure a seamless transition with new timetables available from December,” she says.
Additional improvements include: the continuation of Palmerston North Airport as a drop off and pick up point and a route variation to include the Duke Street Medical Centre in Feilding.
